Lake Norman is North Carolina’s biggest lake, one of Davidson’s most popular attractions, and quite a vision of sparkling blue waters surrounded by lush forests. If fresh water scenes are your thing you will absolutely fall in love with this lake and its unmatched views. One of the best places to enjoy Lake Norman is at the local Jetton Park in neighboring Cornelius, North Carolina. This municipal recreation area is the perfect place to head for a long walk, or to plan a whole day of sunshine and fun on the shores of this gorgeous lake.

Whether you’re enjoying summer vacation with daytime activities or just taking a stroll after dinner, Jetton Park is the perfect place to get some fresh air and entertainment. Here are some of the best things to do at the park.

Walking, Riding and Roller Blading!

This 105-acre park has a gorgeous 1.5-mile loop trail that is the perfect place to get some exercise. If you’re a walker or a runner you will love this opportunity to explore the entire park beyond the waterfront, and take in the beautiful forested scene. You can also take a break at the white gazebo in the midst of the park, and should definitely check out the formal garden along the way as well. If you have rollerblades, the path is beautifully paved and one of the best spots in Mecklenburg County for this activity. If you prefer biking, then you’ll love it here too, and can event rent one at the Jetton Park bicycle shop.

Lighted Tennis Courts

With 8 tennis courts on the property, Jetton Park is one of the most popular places around to play a few rounds. If after work is the only time you can squeeze your games in, don’t worry because the courts are all well lit and ready to be torn up at night until they close at 10:30 pm.

Playgrounds, Picnics and Concessions

Any patch of grass in the park will do for a picnic, but if you’d rather have a more formal setting that can conveniently accommodate many people, there are two proper picnicking decks equipped with grills that can even be reserved for birthday parties and other special occasions. The concessions area is open full time in the summer months, and the perfect place to grab a quick snack or meal if you didn’t pack anything ahead of time, and will fuel the little ones up before hitting the playground for some serious climbing and sliding.

The Beach

The beach is of course always a hit attraction for anyone with little ones, as well as the perfect place to kick back with a good book for some peace and quiet. While its pristine white sand is incredibly inviting, swimming is prohibited for the time being.

Jetton Park will surely keep you busy for at least a day. If you’re looking for more things to fill your time while in Davidson and the greater Charlotte area, check out this free vacation guide chock full of great things to do, see and eat.
