Ghosts of Davidson was founded in 2020 by 15-year-old resident Andrew Knorpp. He went to the archives of Davidson College and talked with many residents and business owners, gleaning history and some of the spookier stories. Andrew put together the tour as a way to earn extra money.
The tour is a mellow, 2-mile walk on mostly flat surfaces. It is wheelchair-accessible, with numerous chances to sit and listen to the stories. The tour begins at 6 pm or 7 pm (check the schedule for exact dates and times) on Saturdays at the Davidson Green corner of Concord and Main Street. The cost is $20 per ticket, and the tour lasts approximately 90 minutes, ending at the Davidson College Cemetery.
Davidson’s History in Ghosts
During your ghostly stroll, you will hear a half dozen stories based on history and legend. They point out the locations of possible apparitions and the sites of some renowned crimes. Don’t be surprised if you feel a light hand on your shoulder or a cold breath in your ear. It’s supposed to be a bit scary but suitable for all ages.
