Not only do we have performances from our local students with the Davidson College Theatre but are also thrilled to have a full season of scheduled shows with the Davidson Community Players. Davidson College Theatre Department
The Davidson College Theatre Department has won many accolades over the past decade and normally schedules up to four performances during the academic year. Their mission is to present theatre that matters. By doing so, the productions create a lasting impression on not only the audience but the cast and crew as well.

Common Thread Theatre Collective
A new addition to the Davidson theatre scene this summer is the Common Thread Theatre Collective. This new professional summer theatre is housed on the Davidson College campus and is a partnership between the theatre faculty of both Davidson College and North Carolina A&T University. Shows will represent contemporary stories highlighting underrepresented communities. Look for shows in June and July.
Performance Locations
You can enjoy these performances at several locations in town. The Rupert T. Barber Theatre at Davidson College offers a more intimate space with seating for 175 guests. The Duke Family Performance Hall, on the lower level of the Knobloch Campus Center, can seat as many as 600 guests for grand performances such as the spring musical. Either way, you can enjoy complete immersion with excellent acting, state-of-the-art sound systems, and expert lighting.
How to Get Tickets
Tickets for the theatre performances are general admission seating. Tickets are affordable and help support the Wildcats! You can purchase admission online or at The Alvarez College Union Ticket Office. The Office is open Monday through Friday from 9 am – 5 pm during the school year. Davidson Community Players
The Davidson Community Players are our local community nonprofit troupe that relies on volunteer performers, but that is no reflection on the quality of the shows! They offer a full slate of shows each year in March, October, two summer shows, and a holiday show. Expect both musicals and dramas; something for everyone!
Performance Locations
If you are planning to attend a performance of the Community Players, make sure that you check your tickets online for the location, as several theatres are used. Smaller, more intimate shows are staged at the Armour Street Theatre. The Duke Family Performance Hall (located on the Davidson College campus) is used for musicals to accommodate both a larger cast, orchestra, and audience.
How to Get Tickets
Tickets can easily be ordered online, or take advantage of Davidson Village Inn’s Theater Experience Special. Guests are eligible for a 15% ticket discount or more depending on the dates of your stay. Make sure you ask when you make your reservation!
