Fishing is one of Lake Norman’s most popular activities. There are many Lake Norman fishing tournaments held throughout the year that attracts visitors from all over to the area. You will be required to have a basic fishing license or sportsman license when fishing on Lake Norman. A license can be purchased online, by calling 888-248-6834 or by visiting a Wildlife Service Agent.

If you do not have access to a boat, there are many places that offer fishing from the shore. These include Lake Norman State Park, Marshall Steam Station Fishing Area, Jetton Road County Park, Ramsey Creek Access Area and Blythe Landing County Park. Lake Norman has a variety of fish you can catch during your trip including Black Crappie, Striped Bass, White Bass, Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Bluegill, and Yellow Perch. Make sure you are following all size and creel regulations for Lake Norman. If they do not meet the size or creel regulations, you will need to release the fish back into the lake.
