- The Schiele Museum is home to many exhibits.
There are permanent exhibits inside and out, and exhibits that rotate seasonally. The museum is now featuring The Solar System: A Journey of Exploration and The Penguins of the Antarctic. Their permanent exhibits include The Hall of North Carolina Natural History, the Hall of North American Habitats, the Hall of Earth and Man, the Hall of North American Wildlife and the Henry Hall of the American Indian. Wander outside the museum and you’ll see their nature trail, the 18th-century backcountry garden, the Stone Age Heritage site and the Catawba Indian Village and Memorial Wildlife Garden.
- The Schiele Museum has a planetarium!
The James H Lynn Planetarium can seat 156 guests. Shows at the planetarium last around 45 minutes. The new SciDome XD System plays full dome films on everything from the human body to nature and space. Currently, the Schiele Museum planetarium is playing The Great Planet Adventures, Summer Sky Show, and Dynamic Earth. Tickets are $5.00 in addition to museum admission.

Inside the Schiele Museum of Natural History, you’ll find the Museum Store. Kids will find a variety of souvenirs all at reasonable prices, some as low as $1.00. The educational fun can continue at home with their science kits and books. Proceeds go right back into funding the museum’s programs and exhibits.

The Schiele Museum celebrates a variety of holidays and seasonal events throughout the year. In the spring, their Cuddly and Cute Animal Babies event is a huge success. A few other events on their calendar include their Easter egg hunt throughout the museum, A Bug’s Day, Things That Go Boom in the month of July, and The United States of Animals in early August.

The 2nd Tuesday of every month, you can visit the Schiele Museum of Natural History for free. From 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, you can explore the museum and all the exhibits at no charge. What a deal!
The Schiele Museum of Natural History hours are Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday’s from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
