About the Carolina Raptor Center

Focused on conservation through education, research, and rehabilitation, the Carolina Raptor Center is doing amazing things for birds of prey. Their mission is as follows “Carolina Raptor Center is dedicated to the conservations of raptors.” The Carolina Raptor Center, CRC for short, welcomes 35,000 visitors to their Raptor Trail each year. They also serve approximately 27,000 students in formal education settings.

The Carolina Raptor Center is a 57-acre living museum. On their ¾-mile trail, you will see eagles, falcons, owls, hawks, and vultures. They house both exotic and native species of raptors. The Carolina Raptor Center is one of the only places in the Southeast that rehabilitates and exhibits the American Bald Eagle. Their on-site hospital sees as many as 1,000 birds per year, releasing them back into the wild after treatment and care.

Carolina Raptor Center On-Site Programs

The Carolina Raptor Center offers a multitude of programs to teach visitors about the birds of prey they are so passionate about. Each weekend you will find raptor meet and greets and information stations with their knowledgeable volunteers. Other special programs throughout the year include the Flights of the Forest Show and Raptor Encounters where you can get up close and personal with vultures and eagles.

On Saturdays at 12:00 pm, view the vultures feeding. This smart species will play with its food before eating, making an entertaining show for everyone. This lasts around 30 minutes and is free with admission.

Admission and hours of operation

From March to October, the Carolina Raptor Center is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. November through February, the Center is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Admission fees are $12.00 for adults, $10.00 for seniors, teachers, and military adults, and $8.00 for students.
